I'm having some problems getting my head around what I should be installing. My 360 was a breeze compared to this, maybe I'm just a hardware guy.

I have a 4.2 system and installed the homebrew channel using bannerbomb so I now have homebrew, dvdx and bootmii installed as ios.

At this point I'm not sure what to do. Am I ready to play games? Both wii and gamecube?

I've read that I need priiloader to be safe to make sure I can get into the wii in case of trouble and to help with booting games from usb/sd etc.

Should I install priiloader and a usb loader? Will the wii still boot normally? I have a 5 year old and when they want to play I don't want them to have to go through a bunch of confusing menus to get to their mario games.

The guides and suggestions on here are great but sometimes it is too much info and it's hard to sort out.

Not even close. You've accomplished the first step, next you need to install the cIOS's required to play backup games. This guide will get you through the process step by step. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901

And I've found that modding a wii is FAR simpler than a 360. Once you understand the steps you can do it in about 10 minutes. It does at first seem more complicated because there is contradictory information and guides around. The one I linked you to is good though. Just read carefully and follow it one step at a time.

And it is up to you if you want to install priiloader and a USB loader. The USB loader is quite simple though, something that even a child can use. And it will keep the kids from scratching up the disks.

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
