Pretty much. There would probably be one or two traces of the softmod somewhere on the system, but nothing functional.
I should add that updating a modded wii (hard or softmodded) doesn't harm the console. There are a lot of people who claim that it will brick it but it doesn't. It just makes it un-modded.

Have a 5month old 3.4e wii - officially updated to 4.1e and soft-modded.
Would like to update to 4.2 (have modded a vir 4.2 at the weekend,NSMB etc)
A few questions I am unsure of:
1. What would happen if I just update the wii to 4.2 -will I be able to then softmod it? (as )
2. will formatting the wii be of any use ?
