Softmod Wii with no wifi connection?

Hey I really want to softmod my Wii so I can play backups but I have no internet connection. I was able to put the Homebrew Channel on my Wii with Bannerbomb but that's where I'm stuck. I understand I COULD get a usb adapter but I'd rather not. Does anybody know what I can do? By the way, I have the 3.1 firmware...

You don't need the internet to softmod...you can use it to softmod, but you don't need it to softmod.

I used this to softmod my Wii. I found it excellent to go through the various steps without the risk of bricking, and you can get all the files you need onto an SD/SDHC card.

The only things I am having trouble with is getting WiiMC to play from USB and running some (but not all) back up games.
