Softmodded Wii giving "Game disc could not be read" error

I softmodded my little sisters wii last December (part of her christmas present) and it's recently been acting up for her. A few of the backed up games are getting "Game disc could not be read" errors. The thing is, the games are in near perfect condition. Originals play perfectly fine. If I rip and reburn the games from the backup disc, they work. I tried the problem discs in a friends wii and they worked without a problem.

switch to a usb loader and hard drive setup. and use dop-mii to install IOS56, IOS57, IOS58, and IOS80 so you have all the latest IOS from the new updates.

How old is the wii? Some newer wii consoles won't let you use DVD-R's to play backups. If this is the case, you will have to resort to USB Loading.
