I've noticed, on 3 different backups now, that the full-motion video sequences all have badly clipped and stuttering audio - yet the in-game audio is perfectly fine - is this a common problem? I haven't been able to find much out by searching so would appreciate any feedback.

As further background information: I've noticed FMV sound problems on 2 games I've ripped myself (using an LG drive) and also one sourced from elsewhere. Backups have been burn't using Verbatum DVD-R at 4x (I think - may have been 8x).

I suspect about the only thing I can try is a slower burn (1x or 2x) - any ideas?

When playing a backup game, the Wii reads the disc slower (about 50% speed) than with an original, and as such, can cause stuttering of FMV sequences (simply put; It cant get the data frm the disc quick enough!)

There isnt really a work around for this, however when i moved from using DVD Backup Games to using a USB Loader, i completely eliminated these issues as the USB device can supply the data FASTER than the DVD Rom Drive can.

Sorry there's no magic fix!

Im happy to answer any other questions you may have about this issue!

Regards.

PS: The only other thing i can suggest is to try some higher quality DVD-R media (eg. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden). Perhaps SOME of the stuttering is due to your wii struggling to real smoothly from your media? The Wii can be VERY selective!

(*) My backups are LEGALLY MADE COPIES of games I already own, I have got 3 Sticky fingered children, each with their own Wii in their room, so the backups are made of the originals, and the originals stored in the loft incase of scratching, fingerprints or other miscellaneous damage. I own a RETAIL COPY of all backups that I make. I DO NOT CONDONE PIRACY!

Thanks for the info - I suspected it might be something that I'd have to live with when using blank DVD's. I'll try a couple of high-quality discs as you suggest, just in case.

It sounds like USB is the way to go anyway - I'll have to look into it.

Cheers.
