I got a Wii with Homebrew Channel already installed on it and I use USB Loader Gx to load games from the hard drive that I used WBFS Manager to load them. I always had the internet turned off for fear of one of the kids replying "YES" to "do you want to update the firmware" question.

Now the kids have started to play online games so i need to keep the internet turned on and i realize i need to somehow block the system update process to keep my Wii from being bricked.

What is the best way to do this? I am not sure what has been done to this Wii in the past, Is there a way I can tell?

Preloader

Turn off the Wii (Red Light), turn on the Wii and straight away press and hold the reset button.

If you have preloader installed it will show up, if not look at preloader and its hacks (it can bar updates!)

they can't update unless they a: go to the system menu and update from there or b: answer one of the messages containing the update.

so as long as they go straight to the usb loader, there's no problems. or you can update to 4.2 and resoftmod.

thats what i was afraid of - they would answer one of the popups. I am looking into priiloader so I can autoload USB Loader Gx. Priiloader is not installed on my system so that looks like it should solve my problem.
