Hi all

My daughter just bought the super mario all stars 25th anniversary and popped it in the WII

Asked for an update as the wii is still on 4.2U
Is there anyway to play without updating?

if you're softmodded, install priiloader and have it block all updates. then run dop-mii and install IOS58 and IOS80.

Use The GeckoOS Launcher Program: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Gecko_OS

This program allows original & backup games to run without the need to update. It doesn't always work but in most cases it does work effectively.
