HeY crew, i'll try to make this short and to the point
have a few queation, was looking for some help (i'll list them in easiest to hardest for me
as a background, ihave a softmodded wii 4.2u (through the bannerbomb and bootmii method; from the modfy.zip file found on gbatemp - thanks smplstc! )
my questions are these
1. is there a way to load a homebrew app right from system memory and the main wii system menu screen ..rather than having to loadup the homebrew channel and use the app that is on my sd card everytime? Would like to have some of the homebrews be right on the main windows
2. is it possible that the controller-wand thingee's sensativity could be off after doing a softmod. It just seems kind of, i dunno, shakier. Is this even possible or is it just my mind playing tricks on me?
3. When i click on bootmi (through the homebrew channel) my drive starts blinking and it locks up. any answer on why? (could it have something to do with the cios' that i installed during the softmod that does like this app now? if so, is there thing i can do to fix it(or should i not worry about it as i dont really know if there is a reason i would need it anymore..is there?
4 the wii shop channel. i want to check it out but when i click on it, it says i need to do an udate through the wii system settings. Will it crash my wii if i do he update? (i guess the real question is i thought that 4.2 was the most recent wii version so why is it asking me to update? does the wii shop channel update not have anyting to do with the actual system updates? Any thoughts on this?
5. the doozy! (good luck) ..lets start off with the understanding that i do actually own the PCU boards for the following roms mentioned.
so, i inatalled mame on the wii (along with the pacman emulator app)On mame, 99% of my roms loaded up fine, but pacman crashed out (on both emulators) my pacman rom had 4 files in it (6e,6f,6j,6h,)my pucman rom had 10 files in it. i tried both and no luck. Now i know these roms worked with an older version of mame that i had used on a pc. I did read somewhere that the pacman rom was inly aupposed to have 8 files in it ( pacman.5e, pacman.5f, pacman.6e, pacman.6f, pacman.6h, pacman.6j, 82s123.7f, 82s126.4a.)
i made a zip with just those files and even tried that..no luck
any suggestions would really be apprecaited on this one and it's been stumping me for awhile. i alos have the pacmanplus zip if i needed ..but i can't get any of them to work...i can see compatbility issues with mame..but with the pacman emulator, COME ONNNN...there should be something i can do to get some version of the little yellow bugger to work so i can play
..ms pacman wont work either , fyi
well, i guess that raps it up
any type of feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and keep retro gaming alive !!

Allot of apps have their own channel wad you can install straight to the system memory. Some have a forwarder channel you can install that links to the app on the SD card. You will just need to do a little digging to find them.

I have never come across this issue with softmodding. Try going into the Wii settings and adjust the sensitivity of the senor bar settings. Also mirrored or reflective suffices could cause the issue also.

Make sure the Bootmii folder is on your SD Card. If it isn't then Bootmii will not load (you can add the folder with the hackmii installer and choose SD Card preparation). If it is on the SD card then you may need to try using a different SD Card to run it.

There was a shop channel update that came out after the 4.2 update. You might not have gotten this update. If you go to my 4.1 softmod guide in my sig you can update it by downloading the softmod pack and following the 4.2 Shop Channel v18: section of the guide. This will allow you to access the shop channel without doing an official update through your Wii settings.

I don't use emulator's so someone else will have to help you out with this issue.

cool,
1.Gotcha, i understand
2. ok
3.

...should the bootmii folder be in the apps folder on the SD card? if i add the folder with the hackmii installer, will it delete all the contents on the cd card when it preps it? Also, what would i need the bootmi file for? to restore the original nand if needed? guess i'm just a littlw clueless on this
4.all set, got it up and running
5. oh well,
does any one have ANY clue on this?
thanks again

Thanks!
