Hey I'm trying to softmod my wii and need to update my wii from 3.1 to 4.1 and I tried using the firmware updater but apparently it needs to have an internet connection to complete that step. I don't have wifi here so I was hoping that someone could give me some direction on this?
Here is your procedure:
1. Download This: http://www.mediafire.com/?z1jzomjh2td 2. Download This: http://www.mediafire.com/?jx2js1hi5zf 3. Put these WAD files in the WAD folder of your SD Card.
4. Put WAD Manager in the APPS folder.
5. You should have three folders in your sd card: ROOT, APPS & WAD
6. Run WAD Manager on your wii from the homebrew channel.
7. Install the IOS first!, then the system menu second. Use cIOS249 to install off & SD Card slot as source.
This should take you to 4.1U. Do this at your own risk.

ok! so here my problem. I have a japanese wii with a mod chip that was installed when bought it (why i bought a japanese one? because i had bought it when wii was just released, so only japan had the console).
Problem now is alot of the games require updates in order for the newer games to work but since i dont live in japan, i can not get hold of japanese wii games. In the past i was originally on firmware 2.2j and updated it to 3.2j using an iso disc.
So i wanted to find out the following:
1)if i can update my wii firmware to 4.1j offline i.e a disc(4.2j apparently had anti piracy updates and would brick my wii)?
2)how?
3)and if anyone could give me the download links for the files i require
Please note that i am trying to avoid using homebrew, so preferably an iso for the system update file would be great. Then i could just burn it onto disc and pop it into my wii.

If your wii has been region-changed, it can brick with error 003 (Only if your wii was previously korean) when updating. Also, the 4.2 update is notorious for crashing & bricking the console, however this is a 1 in 1000 chance. The 4.2 update also stops your modchip from playing out-of-region games. You really don't need to update to 4.1 or 4.2, but if you like 4.1 is completely safe.
Sin and Punishment 2 is a Japanese release & it has a 4.1 update, I think. Try getting the iso of that one & updating from it, it will take you to 4.1
Don't update to 4.3 at this time. You can update to 4.2 if you think you should, it's re-hackable, but your modchip will be affected.
I wouldnt update the wii if i didnt have to, but it seems that alot of the new games require me to update (which i think is totally stupid). So i dont have a choice but to find away to update it to 4.1j so my wii doesnt get bricked updating from other region games.
I have read about the 4.2j and i will definitely stay away from it (i want to keep my modchip operating so i can use burned iso's).
My wii also isnt region changed, it came japanese and still is in japanese. Iv done no hacking on it, only have a modchip on it.
So, i take there is no direct isofirmware file i can download then?
Hmmm...an anyone confirm the two games has the 4.1j update? and if so, a download link for it.
Sin & Punishment 2 is a single game, it' not two words. If playing games is your concenrn, you don't need to update to 4.1, otherwise you'd have to go to 4.3 Instead, you can install the IOS listed next to the game on this page (I got the Sin & Punishment info from this page): http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs...es-use-run.html

Um...so i have a few questions, 1) what is an ios?
2)how do i get them?
3)how do install them? Bear in mind i would like to keep my wii as original as possible. The only thing i have is an modchip which i would like to continue being able to use to play iso burned games.

Just update of Either Sin & Punishment 2 or New Super Mario Bros Wii discs, but make sure they're in Japanese. Preferably Sin & Punishment 2. Both have 4.1 disc updates.
