I wanna go straight. i installed the homebrew chanell on my a few months ago and its the biggest mistake i've ever made. it was cool at first but now i barly use it and it's causing more problems then it's solved. All i want to do is update my wii to 4.2 so i can play the new games comming out. i dont care if i can't illegally play roms on my wii afterwards. is there a safe way to let the 4.2 update remove the modded crap on my wii and let me get on with my life?

Wii Options > Data Management > Wii System Menu 3 > Format System Memory. This will erase everything: saved games, channels, settings. You can backup your saved games to a SD card before formatting.
Wii 4.1U Wiikey2

I'm curious. What exactly is the homebrew channel doing that is causing problems? It sounds like you're only using it for the emulators, and neither the HBC or the emulators conflict with anything that I'm aware of.
Anyway, formatting the system memory will delete any installed channels and save games. That includes the homebrew channel and any wads you've installed but it won't effect any cIOS (custom firmware) patches if you've installed any of them.
Updating to 4.2 will uninstall any cIOS's as well as the homebrew channel unless the channel is fully updated. From there you can just go to the channels menu under wii options and delete it if you still want to.

Basically i want to update my wii so i can play the newer games that are out. I've just been hearing that modded wii's brick if you update them to the 4.2 menu which is not what i want at all.But your saying i should just update using the regular method and that'll do all the work for me?

Basically you heard wrong. Modded wii's dont brick if you update them to 4.2. They just become un-modded and you have to mod them again.
I think there are some stupid people out there who have lots of bootleg games that they suddenly cant play after updating who go around saying '4.2 bricked my wii' without understanding what they're talking about.

I can vouch for the post above my son updated my softmodded wii via the wii to firmware 4.2e, All it did was remove the hombrew channel and stopped the backup channel from playing games. After remodding I now have a softmodded 4.2e wii that plays new super mario brothers and a few other games that never worked before :)

I'm guessing that by dump program you mean the program used to dump wii games to ISOs.
Unfortunately, I've never actually used one of them because I managed to get one of the LG drives that can rip the games before they were discontinued. So I cant help you with any specific problems, just point you towards the guide which you've probably read already.

Yes that?s exactly what I mean. When I try to dump using wi-fi it works but when the progress bar gets to the end which only takes 10 min or so, the file created is very small. And I haven?t been able to find info on which sd hc card works with WII.I have seen the guide you point out and will go through it again maybe I missed something.
What model LG work. Thanks.
