hi, i have a softmodded wii 4.1u and id like to upgrade it to 4.2u but theres a problem... it wont let we upgrade?? i have previously upgraded from 3.something to 4.1 with no issue but this time around i alwayse get an error code when i try to upgrade and help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the error code? At times when updating to 4.2, the process may be interrupted but the update oddly enough goes through. Check to see if you are still on 4.1.

no i checked before hand. im still 4.1u the update doesnt even start. well it does but it never gains any progress then about a min later i get error code. i cant get to my wii right now but when i can ill post the error code.

if you can install wads i suggest you try that method instead. If you really want 4.2 on your system just run the 4.2wad file you can google it to obtain it.

well ok i guess ill tell you the whole story... i received a copy of metroid prime trilogy and i put it on my external hard drive. everything went good. well i go to start the game it works... i got to play the campaign and i geta green screen then my wii restarts... so i figured i would upgrade to 4.2 that way i would have all the latest files and hopefully there would be a patch for this issue somewhere so that is why i am trying to update my wii to 4.2. i have also noticed that some of my other games crash when i start playing them. so i guess i just thought of another question... can some of the copied iso's be corrupted and you have to re coppy them?

so my last question is you were talkign about updating with a wad? i know what and how to use wads obviously becaus ei hacked my wii but i havent heard of updating a wii with a wad? it would be great if you could give me a little bit more info on this before i attempt it.

once again i am very greatfull for all the help you guys have given me. i had given up on my wii untill i found out you could hack it. i guess for me modding my systoms is addicting and fun lol. if only i knew a fraction about modding as the creators of the hack know. well i guess if i did i wouldnt be here lol

we dont need to hear about your previous problems or whether or not you are pirating. We are just here to help. With that said you can get a system menu 4.2 wad which should allow you to install via wad manager 1.5 and it will actually rewrite over ur previous system menu and take u straight to 4.2 without any issues because ive done this before many times. No bricks no nothing.

I am not at liberty to share files aka wad files here so u are going to need to find the file yourself, but its out there u just need to search for it. You install it like any other wad vc game and restart ur wii to get the new settings.
