Hi, i have been searching back and forth without success. Does anyone know if there is a guide on how to install and run wii games from an external hard-drive to your wii using 4.2u firmware. There is so much confusing info out there!

If you're already softmodded then you should be able to just download the homebrew channel app here, hook up a USB drive and go.

If you don't have homebrew installed yet then you need to follow one of the 4.2 softmod guides to install the homebrew channel and the required custom IOS's. This is the one that is usually recommended, I haven't tried it myself though because I didn't upgrade to 4.2.

hi, thanx-i will try that. yes, i do have homebrew channel and neogamma, but for some reason neogamma will not work from usb? Do i have to format hardrive 1st? Sorry, i am kinda scared about bricking my wii.

Yes, you need to format the hard drive first. Get WBFS manager and partition your hard drive and format the secondary partition to WBFS and load your games on it.

Ah, right. Forgot that step. WBFS manager is much easier than trying to format and load the games through the usb manager.
