USB Loader GX was out of date, so I uninstalled the .wad, and installed the updated version. The only problem is when I click on the USB Loader channel the screen goes black, and I'm sent back to the system menu. I have tried to install the forwarder instead, and to my surprise that didn't work. I then tried running it from priiloader, and again, it failed. Apparently the only way I can get the latest update of the program to work is by going to the homebrew channel, and running USB Loader GX from there (also, to make sure I didn't have different versions of the same program, I downloaded the all-in-one file so as to make sure the channel .wad, the forwarder .wad, and the .dol file were all the same version).
Since my system is soft modded I made note of that I'm installing the .wad file into IOS 249. As a result of this I was wondering if I will have to install a new CIOS, or if this may be some kind of weird problem that is only related to this version of USB Loader GX.

if you tried to run the forwarder channel and you get booted to the system menu, then you don't have it placed correctly on your SD/external drive.
but i'd get rid of GX and switch to configurable usb loader. also, get the v8 forwarder and install that.

Actually the file was in the right place. For the most part the all-in-one download had things ready to where you can just drag and drop them onto the root of your SD card. So far the file is in the sd:\apps\usbloader_gx folder. Also, while a misplacement of the file may be possible for the forwarder, that still doesn't explain why I get the exact same error when I try to set it up to run as it's own independent channel, so that the SD card is taken out of the picture entirely. I mean, the forwarder is 2.94 MB, and the USB Loader GX channel is 6.53 MB, so I can already rule out installing two different forwarders. Also, if I'm using Priiloader, and I'm running the file in question directly from that, that eliminates misplacement entirely, so why then why does the screen still go blank, and not run the file?
As stated, the file will run, but only when ran from the homebrew channel. When ran from anywhere else the result is either a blank screen, or a return to the system menu when ran as a channel.
Here's a link to the all-in-one package I'm using.

i've only used GX once, and since then i've switched to configurable. never looked back and have no intentions to switch.
and installing it as a full channel is NOT recommended. because of the updates that are constantly coming, you are locked onto that version until you uninstall the channel. having a forwarder channel and a FAT32 partition on the hard drive makes it much more simple in the long run.
if you haven't updated your system, use dop-mod v15 to install or update any IOS under 200.

I manged to get USB Loader GX to run. Turns out it was as I thought; the IOS files needed updating. What I did was look up a rather recent guide that told you how to softmod a Wii, followed the instructions, and the problem went away. Now that the IOS files are updated USB Loader GX ran without any problems. The only problem? I *still* can't get the program to run from Priiloader. My attitude was, since USB Loader GX is working now, just set it up to run automatically by installing the file from priiloader, that way I no longer have to fool with the system menu at all (yes...I am that lazy). Well nice idea, but wouldn't you know it, I got a blank screen. The weird bit? The file still runs fine when I run it from homebrew. @_@
Well at least the channel is working fine now, so I at least managed to resolve that problem. Also, that Configurable USB Loader, I gave it a try. Took a few minutes to get used to the system, but once that was done, I was able to do most of the stuff I could do with USB Loader GX. I still like USB Loader because, to me, it has a more user friendly interface, and in general is more graphically pleasing. Still there was one thing I was able to do that I could not do with USB Loader GX; have it set to run automatically from Priiloader.
Sure, once the program runs, my hard drive isn't detected automatically, but after three seconds of waiting, Configurable USB Loader detects it, and even has the last run game selected automatically. Because of the simple fact that this program is set to run automatically when the Wii is turned on I may use this program instead of USB Loader GX because all the games I play are put onto an external hard drive for easier access/organization.
