I just finished softmodding my wii with no problems. I'm running 4.3u with the latest versions of usbloadergx & wiiflow installed. A USB HDD is connected with one NTFS partition and a couple of game ISOs. Both loaders start fine and read the game files OK. When I try to play the games the wii's blue disk drive light comes on as if it's trying to access the drive. I then have to cancel. Just for the heck of it, I inserted a disk in the drive(unrelated to the ISO games) and it worked. Meaning I was able to load the games from the HDD and play them fine. Is this normal? Does a disk need to be inserted in the wii's drive? If not, how do I get the USB loaders to stop accessing the wii's disk drive when starting a game? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

no, you do not need a game disc inside the drive. i'd suggest doing a multiple partition drive, consisting of a primary FAT32 partition, and a WBFS partition; NTFS is still a WIP.

FAT32/WBFS never faile me. no need for the disc drive, other than installing games, or a SD card. all loaders are stored on the FAT32 partition.
