Using a hard drive on a Wii

I have my Wii successfully softmodded and playing games either through USB config, or the other one. My system is 4.2U

At the moment I'm using a USB stick in the slot. It is 8 gigs and is currently housing 3 games all of which work fine.

I bought a 120 gig usb 2.0 drive to replace the stick. I copied the contents of the stick to the HHD which is formatted Fat32 like the stick.

The Wii won't or can't recognize the large drive. I don't get any activity lights on the drive or anything. CFGUBSloader just goes back to main menu and the other one just shows no games.

Since the drive works everywhere else except on the Wii I think the hardware itself is fine, so what am I missing or is there some configuration that I have to do?

have you formatted drive with WBFS manager 3.0, also you need to plug drive in usb closest to the outside of the console the inner usb slot does not seem to boot usb devices

I had the same thing. USB memory stick worked fine as FAT32, but none of the HDDs I tried (three different ones) would work as FAT 32. Two of them worked fine as WBFS, one wouldn't work at all.
