I was trying to install usb loader gx, but everytime it looks for the usb drive it can't find it. I current have cios36 and was trying to update to cios38 v14. When I try installing the new cios it still says cios36 when I click on about?

Do I need to be at a higher version firmware to make this stuff work. Backups work fine from dvd's, but I really want to use my usb hard drive.

Your firmware should work.If the DVD works then it's just the USB loader don't work or the HDD is not compatible.
The loader need at least cios rev 9 and above.

USB loaders are reliant on cIOSs which is in the case cIOS36. They have nothing to do with your firmware. Your issue could be one of three things:
1. You need to ensure that the USB is hooked up to port number one.
2. Verify that your HDD has power.
3. Assuming the HDD had already been formatted, it could very well be a compatibility issue.

thanks for the info. i thought it might be a compatibility problem as well. i updated the firmware to 4.1u and a new clios. It formated my hard drive and I was able to copy the game. however, now when i load the game it crashes after the first screen.

i'm going to try another game and see if i have the same issue.
