I have a version 3.0U wii. I would like to update it to 4.2 to be able to play a patch for a certain game. I do NOT want to update it to 4.3. Does anyone know how to go about this? I was told by someone that you could get certain games that would update off of the discs? Is this true? If so, are there any in particular anyone knows of? Thanks a lot! I don't want to have to hack the wii in any way. I am not seasoned in this sort of thing. (: Thanks to all who try to help!
Update off one of these & your softmods should be removed, however, make sure that the game is the same region as your console, updating off an out-of-region game will cause a semi-brick on your wii.

if i get a scrubbed version of one of these games, will it still have the update on it?
That is also bad, when you update to 4.2 with a modchip inside, the modchip loses it's region-free gaming ability--meaning you'll only be able to play games from your region.
Judging from your other thread (Which I've replied to), I bet your problem has something to do with Wii Party. I'm very sure that you do not need to update to play this game. Please refer to my post in your latest "Error 002" Thread.
