am shortly going to follow the 4.3 softmod guide, but it doesnt say anywhere where the backed up game files go, and in what format should they be? Im looking to play them from a usb pen drive.

thanks, but i dont understand when it says i need to install the IOS249 and the Hermes IOS's? is this additional to the 2 x packs i downloaded for the 4.3 mod?
As part of the softmod you should install cios's, these will be part of the pack.
The Wii runs each game on an ios, to run games from the hard drive / flash drive you need to run them on a custom ios (cios)
2 great makers of cios's are
Hermes - these are generally installed at 222,223 and 224
Waninkoko - usually installed at 249 and 250
Each cios has a revision
Hermes rev 4 or rev 5 (some loaders cannot use rev 5 as yet)
Waninkoko rev 14, 17, 18, 19, 20 (latest is generally better but earlier versions have advantages for some people)
each cios has a nintendo ios as the base to create the cios
38 used as standard for hermes rev4
37 merged with 38 - used by hermes rev4 to run USB instrument games
56 the new best option
57 runs a few difficult games that 56 does not run.
The best options at the moment (will probably be inc in new packs - older packs may have different versions)

Gees! now im lost. should these all be included in the packs i downloaded? they were called "4.3 hackmii installer" and "4.3 mod pack"?
