Wii 2.2U and WiiKey...

I have a Wii with a WiiKey which was installed about 2 years ago. The Wii has version 2.2U on it and has never connected wirelessly.

I have a handful of new original games such as WiiFit Plus. I have yet to try and play this new game. I am able to play old original games such as Wii Sports and Wii Play.

Since my Wii is version 2.2U and has never connected to the Internet, what would you recommend I do next?

Should I update my WiiKey's firmware? Should I connect wirelessly and update my Wii?

What would be the best approach to play new original games and copies of these new games?
