hi all, its been along time since ive been on this site :), well im having a bit of an issue, i have a 3.3U wii ( i bought mine on 11/19/06 so its 1 of the first ones ever made :) ) i have a modchip in it ( though idr which one) i plan on taking it out and softmodding my wii (for back up purposes) now i dont know how to go about updating it and what-not without bricking. i used the twilight hack on it so i have the homebrew channel and such. can anyone point me in the right direction?

P.S. i used the search button but all i found was people praising a larry? and well his guide seems to be down.

thanks all for your help

I wouldn't update to 4.2, it kills homebrew & it can brick your wii if it's region-changed or has homebrew. I would update to 4.0 or 4.1.

To do this you can either:

-Install IOS60 & System Menu v449 WADs using the Homebrew Channel

-Or you could update off a disc. Wii Fit has the 4.0 Update & New Super Mario Bros has the 4.1 update.

If you want to update to 4.2, I suggest you erase ALL of your homebrew first. If you don't want to erase your homebrew, you can go another way:

1. Make sure your modchip can automatically start games without needing the wii menu.

2. Copy a hacked Indiana Pwns save file into your wii's memory. You probably already have the Twilight Hack installed, but if you were to brick for unknown reasons during the update, the Twilight hack won't work in 4.2, so it can't help you.
