hi !i'm from malaysia and using a 4.1u.my son accidentally pressed yes on the updating request online ,and the next thing i know,nothing works except for the message 'unauthorized device detected error 002'.larry, please help.i have sent my wii to the wii shop where i had bought it and they said they can't do it-after keeping it for 3 months!.and the warranty expires once u hack-(which i did.worked flawlessly until the updating event).i take it for granted that it's fully bricked but i'd like to think i do have other options out there in the net.i saw a wii universal unbricking disc v3 (free to download on media fire) also by zantzue ..would this work larry?thx a million in advance to anyone who happens to read this -even if u can't help
hi larry.tx for replying.the wii menu does not come up upon switching on .in fact, nothing else comes up except the "unauthorized device detected error 002".idid the soft modding myself (bought it in pristine @virgin condition)online from eg waninkoko,hbc etc..it was working perfectly until the...updating event.tried pressing on +reset button simultaneously,tried playing dvd rom,even sd card--all didn't work.
thousand apologies to larry and 0thers...just took back my wii from the 2nd wii retail outlet and had a look again at the wii error.(they said they could not fix it too).anyway on the screen it's written -ërror:003.unauthorized device has been detected....as before,nothing else works eg.no wii menu ,no response to wiimote,no reading of dvd etc..sorry again.

#003 means that the system menu was changed to another region and you updated the system to 4.2 firmware.
Usually Korean or Japan regions are changed to USA or Europe regions.
Who changed the system region? Did you or did you buy it that way?
If you bought it that way I would bring it back and demand a refund or exchange (in order to change the system region you have to hack the system). So they themselves voided the warranty by changing the system region. They should have told you that they changed the region of the system and that updating to 4.2 will cause the #003 error message.
If you changed the region yourself then chalk it up as lesson learned and buy another system.
