So, last night, I turned on my Wii looking to play a game while waiting for some of my isos to transfer to my hard drive. I went to the regular wii game booting channel, but covering it was an icon that said "WII SYSTEM UPDATE REQUIRED".

Basically, I can't play real wii discs, because the channel is blocked and the only way to unblock it is to update. I'm updated to 4.3U already and I haven't heard anything about 4.4. But I can still play games through Configurable USB Loader...

Any ideas what's going on?

specs:
-4.3U softmodded wii
-Configurable USB Loader v57
-trucha bug has been restored, etc.
-hermes ios 222/223 installed

you're either missing an IOS or IOS is newer on the disc, and the game wants to install it.

What ios does Endless Ocean 2 require?
I thought it was 222, but I already have it installed.

No. If you install via the system update, your system will be updated to 4.2 & you will lose all your current softmods, however if you install this IOS via WAD Manager, you can play the game & not need to update, so you won't lose your updates. Always avoid updating if you can help it.
