Interesting name you have there but at least you made the title of your thread properly unlike some other folks.
Anyway you should say the stuff that you did and the stuff that you are using.
Which games are you trying to play? What errors are you getting? Which loader are you using? Specifics are good.

Hey - Thanks
Ok I'm using homebreware backup channel. it's old. I have ahem backed up my copies of spinter cell, transformers revenge of the fallen, punch out, and medal of honor.
Let's take one at a time - When I try to play transformers through the backup channel, it says "an error has occurred, yadda yadda, read your operations manual.
I hear that there are other channels out there, but I have no idea how to install them... I downloaded a thing called neogamma last night and loaded it through my hombrew channel and put the transformers game in, but I got error 001.
I guess what I hope for is a new channel, or at least something like neogamma that will work with my games.
Thanks for helping me

I'm guessing you mean to say that you are using Backup Loader Gamma.
I don't know of a homebreware backup channel. And all backup launcher can be launched from the homebrew channel.
Neogamma is what you should be using Neogamma R6 to be exact. If you aren't sure whether you have R6 or not you can get it from here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6347
And if you want a channel of Neogamma on your system menu instead of loading it through the homebrew channel you can get it from here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165485
Which cIOS do you have?
And do you have a modchip (I usually hear people with modchips getting the unauthorized device 001 error)
Finally it's always good to check the compatibility list here http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/Backup_Launcher_v3
It's a gamma 3 compatibility list but it mentions Neogamma as the solution for many games.
Edit: Whoops I forgot about installing channels. If you download the channel of Neogamma in the link that I posted you'll get what is called a wad file. If you install the wad using wadmanager the channel will appear on your system menu. To install the wad file you have to make a folder called wad in the root of your SD and put your wad in there. When you load up wadmanager you will see your wad.
That wad is safe but let me take this time to warn you that not all wads are safe. Some wads can brick your Wii. It is good to look into Bootmii and Preloader to save your self from a costly repair.

Ok - No, I don't have a modchip. I downloaded a thing from the internet at a site called hombreware.com... I followed the instructions and got a new channel called a backup channel. It works with most of my backups, but the newer ones seem to all have one problem or another with it.
I don't know what cIOS I have. What is a cIOS?
Thanks for the help.
I downloaded that file that you linked.
What is the compatibility list? What is it all about?

Ok - I downloaded that link http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=165485 like you said to get a channel, but it's not a channel. That must be loaded through the homebrew channel.
Maybe I just don't know how to install it. Would you be willing to give me a step by step guide?
Edit: oh yeah, where and what is wadmanager?

Homebreware? honestly that site seems slightly shady :)
cIOS is what allows backups to be played without a modchip as well as others things such as allowing you to use a USB Loader. (You should check out USB Loader when you get tired of doing the disc thing)
The particular cIOS that I'm talking about are made by Waninkoko and the latest revision is 13b although many people use a revision somewhere between 10 and 13b. I recommend 13 to get started with which you can get from here http://teknoconsolas.tv/wanin/cIOS38_rev13-Installer.zip
Rev14 is scheduled to be released by the end of this week.
I'm a little curious about homebreware had you install but if you have never installed a cIOS before you can follow this to get it installed http://yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=70
You might also want to take a look at this http://yafaze.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=594
Anyway cIOS is just what allows you to play backups etc, you still need an app to do that such as the loader that you have on your Wii or like Neogamma which we are trying to install.
The first link at that site is the one you want to download http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil...430505&gk=hotel
When you download and extract that you should get Backup Launcher-WBKL.wad
You put that Backup Launcher-WBKL.wad in the wad folder that you made in the root of your SD card.
You then use Wad Manager http://www.mediafire.com/?scwhmzam1mn to install it.

all your problems will be solved and all your questions answered if you read and complete the new and improved wii softmod guide. It is on page one of this forum.
If you follow the steps in that guide it will update you to the newest version of the Wii FW, and it will give you the wadmanager, the latest HBC, NeoGamma 6, and if you follow the additional guides linked at the bottom of the new and improved softmod guide you can also load your backups from the normal disc channel and get Bootmii installed to protect against a system brick. If you are unable to install bootmii as boot2, the guide also tells you how to install it as an ISO and then intalls preloader for you so even though you cant install bootmii as boot2, you can still use preloader to recover from a system brick.
The guide looks longer than it actually is. The steps are simply spelled out in detail which makes the guide appear large and daunting but it is not. Give it a try.
I recommend trying the above as it simplfies everything and just kind of does it all for you.

Thank you Matthews - I still don't know what wadmanager is or how to access it.
*You then use Wad Manager http://www.mediafire.com/?scwhmzam1mn to install it.*
I'm sorry for being so inexperienced, but I promise to help others with this when I get it figured out...
Also: Denver, I'll try to find that guide. I just registered with afterdawn an hour or two ago, so I don't know how to get anywhere (like to page one of this forum)

Yeah you can go ahead and use that guide that Denver was talking about (although my advice is just as sound as the guide is)
WadManager is an app just like how everything that displays in the Homebrew Channel is an app.
You put apps in the apps folder. The apps folder is in the root of your SD card. When you download and extract wadmanager from that link you will get a file called WAD-Manager_v1.4.dol. You should rename it to boot.dol (all apps with the .dol extension should be renamed to boot.dol)
Inside your apps folder you should make a folder called WadManager. Inside that folder you should put the file that you renamed to boot.dol
You should then see Wadmanager in the homebrew channel.
But yeah check out that guide. People are around to answer whatever questions you may have.

More problems - Now when I put those files on the SD card and go through the steps, the only thing that pops up on the screen is a message at the bottom right corner *open blocks 7704*
I know that I don't know anything, but I hope I'm not a moron too! I can usually follow instructions pretty well

I have downloaded the cIOS file, The Wad Launcher file, and the Wad Manager File.
I put the wad launcher file in a dir on my SD named WADS
I took that to the Wii and went to data managment then SD, it said nothing is in the slot, then I inserted the SD card It did nothing except a message that said open blocks. I was unable to see the files on the SD card at all.

Lets use proper names now.
If you want to use WadManager you have to go to the Homebrew Channel.
If you don't see WadManager in the Homebrew Channel then you need to have:
A folder called apps in the root of your SD card.
In this apps folder you will place the folder called Wadmanager and in that folder you put the file that you downloaded and extracted from Mediafire. It was originally called WAD-Manager_v1.4.dol but you should have renamed it to boot.dol.
So when you open your SD card you should see an apps folder
When you open your apps folder you should see a folder called wadmanager
When you open that folder called wadmanager you should see a file called boot.dol
The Backup Launcher-WBKL.wad that you want to install to get the Neogamma channel should go in your wad folder.
Your wad folder (just wad, not wads) should be in the root of your SD card.
So if you open your SD card you should see a folder called wad
If you open your wad folder you should see a file called Backup Launcher-WBKL.wad
And don't be scared to check out the guide. It has a lot of information that will be useful to you even beyond what you are trying to do right at this moment.

Ok - I have the wad manager loaded up and ready to install
It's asking me to select an ios version to use...
What should I choose (I would love to know what this is so I can understand it, but I'll settle for just telling me which one to choose)

You should use 249, or any IOS that has the trucha bug. People say 249 because it's pretty much guaranteed to have the bug.
Edit: And just to reiterate, after you get your wad installed don't go crazy with installing every wad that you see. Some wads are dangerous. And you should look into bootmii and preloader if you really want to have a bunch of channels on your system menu.

You got 001 using Neogamma?
Which cIOS do you have?
Go to Neogamma and as soon as you select start hold the 1 button until the NeoGamma screen comes up.
At the bottom of the screen it should say.
For example mine says: NeoGamma R6, IOS249 (Rev 13)

No, think of it as an app like how WadManager is an app.
You can make a folder inside your apps folder called cIOS38rev13 installer (or whatever you want to call it, it doesn't matter)
Rename cIOS38_rev13-Installer.dol to boot.dol and put it inside the cIOS38rev13 installer folder.
Go to the Homebrew Channel and launch the installer.
You should do network installation if your Wii has wifi otherwise you would have to get an IOS38 from the internet somewhere.
After it's done being installed you can remove that folder from your apps folder if you want.
I still have mine. Actually I keep cIOSrevs 10 through 13b in my apps folder in case I want to switch for some reason.
You can then try your games again.

Do I have to delete the Revision 6 that I installed originally? Or, can I just install 13 without deleting?

You don't have to delete Rev6. It will just install over it. And if you want 6 back (there's really no reason to go back to 6) you can just install 6 over 13.
The early revs based on 37 (rev 1-3) are the ones that you had to delete before installing another one.

Thanks for all the help - I think we're on to something. I got transformers to work, but the other games are loading in black and white and very fuzzy - I've tried the regions modes - Is there something I'm missing ?
I mean I've tried Region Options - Force Video - I've tried all of them, and none work. Is there something else in the other settings that I don't understand?
