I had system 3.4 and updated to 4.0U, I followed this guide [url=http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/773505][/url] and I was able to softmod my Wii. I have been able to dump iso files from the wii and burn them and play them on my wii all without a modchip. So you can make and play backups without a mod chip and without an LG drive!


to rip:
wii dvd dumper 1.2 this will rip from the wii over wireless to your computer (very easy, just run on the wii and it tells you what to type into your web browser to download the image from the wii) you can also rip to a sd card but I think the wireless method is faster. Can burn the iso files with imgburn and play!


to burn:
I used verbatim dvd-r discs and burned at 2x and they play great (no coasters yet) I burned with default settings in imgburn (free burning program)
