Hi guy's, well I killed my wii drive totally today while trying to install wiikey 2 so I'm looking to get back up and running asap.

As you can prob see from my other post I got a solid red light on wiikey 2 chip and today I tried a second wiikey 2 chip I had and I got the same problem so after lots of messing about I gave up but when I connected drive back to wii without chip it's dead.

If I unplug drive from wii the wii will start up as I can see the light at the front but if I plug the drive back in and turn it on the wii just powers off so I must have fused or killed something.

Basically I'm looking for the cheapest way to get back up and running so will I need a whole complete wii drive ? or will this be sufficent >> http://cgi.ebay.ie/Wii-DVD-Drive-board-Motherboard-D2A-DMS-D2B-D2C-D2E-/170550748056?pt=UK_VideoGames_VideoGameConsoles_VideoGameConsoles&hash=item27b59de398#shId

My drive that I killed was a D2C.

So best solution to get back up and running asap, new wii drive or item above ?

Cheers

Well if you already fried one drive trying to softmod then I would NOT try it again.

If your wii is on 4.2 or earlier then you don't need a working drive to softmod. Just do that and play games from a USB or flash drive.

Hi and thanks for the reply mate :)

To be honest I knew nothing of the soft mod. Throughout the years I've always paid some random person off the net to mod my stuff so I decided to do it myself this time and I messed up.

As I said, I knew nothing of the soft mod, no I havn't been living under a rock lol but I just always just went down the hard mod route but if I can soft mod my wii now without the drive I will definitely do that.

I havn't really used the wii in roughly 6 months or so I doubt the firmware is the latest or even near it.

I've done some googling since I read your post here on what I need to soft mod it ect.. but there is so much stuff I don't know where to start. I've read a few guides but can you recommend a noob friendly guide to get up and running ?

I think a SD card is like ?10 so I'll grab that tomorrow and I'll keep digging now on hot to do it but if you have any guide recommendations I'd be greatful.

Thanks again

Hey 12137 thanks for the links mate! I've to head out now for a couple of hours but I'll have a good read when I get back. I also forgot to get the sd card when I was out today :O so I'll pick that up on my travles too.

Thanks for the replies guy's, no doubt I'll be back to ask more questions later lol

Cheers ;)
