Hi Can anyone help please. i have a new Wii, i think it has 4.2 installed. i have tried the following to install breware:

hackmii_installer_v0.6
abd6a_v200 (Bannerbomb)

But it just freezes, at the install satge and the wireless controller does not work. i understand that it is put on the SD card and if the SD card is taken out then the Wii reverts to how it was pre hack, is this true?

any suggestion or a guide that will help.

Sorry for being a newbie!!

Many thanks the_rob.

i have got to the hackmii and bannerbomb bit
(You will get a message saying "Load Boot dol/elf?" Select YES.)
it goes to the next screen where i can see banner-bomb in the top left hand corner, i just cant move the Wii hand to select it. i have read that you can use the power reset button to select if you have not got a Nintendo game controller (which i have not) any ideas what i am doing wrong?

much appreciate any help that you can offer.

Cheers

Its a gamecube controller you need to use or either using the buttons on the front of the wii to navigate and select in the menu.

You cant use a wiimote.

The best way is to try the instructions again on navigating and selecting in this menu

Have a look at this tutorial here for some help

Many thanks karlroby & the_rob.

i have sent off for a mini gamecube controller for the Wii. once i have that i will try again. if you do it wrong can it harm the Wii, i have read as long as the sd card is not in the Wii it will work normally. is there a way of backing up the Wii so if you make a complete balls up it can be returned to it original state (recovery disk)i only really want the hombrew channel so that i can play backed up disks.

Any help is much appreciated.

The guide I linked you to includes steps for backing it up, one of the first things you do. Just read through carefully before there are certain things you install that you don't want the GCN controller / memory cards plugged in for. GCN controller is also good for some VC games so it's a good investment besides.
