I'm not new to Wii modding (go back to modchips & waiting 3 hours for my LG drive to backup discs to my PC). Now I use an external harddrive and Config USB Loader for all my backups & gameplay. On top of the HDD, I always make a copy of the backup and save the ISO image to my online file server in case anything happens to the HDD. I typically use WBFS Manager for all the file movements, but have also used Wii Backup Manager. I recently had my HDD fail, purchased a new drive and have been downloading & re-upping all the games to the new drive (suppose drive imaging in the future may be in order). In any case, all of the games I'm loading were ripped the same way (in CFG Loader) and transfered to online storage however, I'm getting some (what I would call) corrupted files and some with no issues.

With the good files, Windows recognizes the file as an ISO at 4.37GB with the correct title and the files transfer via WBFM with no problem pulling up title, game ID, region (all mine are NTSC) and "actual" game size (without all the padding). Also, the good games play fine off the new HDD.

With the "corrupt" files, Windows recognizes the file as an ISO at 4.37GB with the correct file name/title...WBM does not recognize them at all when I try to open them...WBFSM recognizes them with a title of '?£', no GameID, 'RF' (region free, which I have not enabled on any of my files or mods), an estimated size of .02GB and ISO size of 4.38GB, ultimately refusing to transfer to the USB HDD. I also tried burning the ISO to disc (like I had to before USB backups) in an attempt to re-rip through CFG Loader. ImgBurn froze temporarily but would ultimately burn the file but the resulting disc was unreadable in my Wii.

I did a little bit of research and WIT (using the QtWitGui) was unable to view the corrupted file throwing an error 22 "wrong file type". Also changing the Name & Game ID using Game Title Renamer v.3 did nothing.

This seems to be a random issue as all my games have been copied & transferred the exact same way but not all are "corrupt". Any other ides or suggestions to try to fix this issue?

Also, just tried one other step with ncWBFSTool. I loaded some ISOs under Tools>Change Backup Image Title or ID. A known good ISO loaded fine...a "corrupt" ISO loaded fine overall but displayed a blank original ID and ?? for the original title. I changed this to the correct ID and title (as listed on wiitdb). I then attempted to add both games to the HDD. The good one showed a size of 2544mb and the corrupt one showed a size of 16mb. Both seemed to load onto the drive, but only the good one was visible on the drive.

In most cases I have either gotten rid of (sold to Gamestop & the like) due to never thinking I would have a problem like this or never had the original disc to begin with. Some I do have backup hard copies, and I'll try to rip them tonight.

There is a answer to you question. While you transfered (uploaded) your games online to be saved as back up, some games got screwed up. As simple as that.
That`s is the only answer to your question. Things get screwed up from time to time when downloading or uploading online. Specially more of a chance of this happening seeing as they are such Big files.
I would take the cee43ja1 advice and re-rip the faulty ones and save yourself time from screwing around trying to fix them.
Sometimes the long way is the best and shortest way :)
