i had my sons wii modified he played one game turned it off and now its not working we get a blank screen no menu nothing except green light, all the leads have been tested and work fine with another machine. any ideas anyone

Seems like your Wii is bricked, a.k.a broken. Was it softmoded or chipped. My suggestion is take it back to whoever modified it.

If your on an LU64 serial Wii if you downgraded anything then you probably bricked it.
