Hello,
I have done a search on the Wii forum and have come up with similar issues, but they seem to be in relation to modified consoles. My console is as it was bought, I have made no modifications. I am just wondering if there are any suggestions regarding the following errors:
On two games the wii screen says "The disc could not be read, please refer to the Wii Operations Manual for details". On one of the discs there are a few scratches so I had presumed it was the fault of the disc. The second game is pre-played so i again, thought it was a scratch.

On another two games the screen says "An error has occurred. Press the EJECT button, remove the disc and turn off the power to the console, please refer to the Wii Operations...etc" Before I send it off to be repaired I was wondering if there are any suggestions? It is my son's Wii, and he has lots and lots of other games that do work. Thanks in advance.

Are you the only owner of the wii? What games are you playing on it? How long have you had the console? It could be a dirty lens.

Yes, it is my son's wii, we bought it brand new. It is around 2 years old and the games that aren't working are Toy Story Mania, Just Dance, Wii Party and Animal Crossing. Wii Party starts ok but after one game is played then the disc error message appears. If the lens is dirty then do you know what can clean it?

Some of the drives that nintendo uses are spotty at times. If your console is still under warranty, then I would contact nintendo. However, if your console has a mod chip, then you can look on craigslist in your area for a repair shop to swap your drive. A friend of mine had recently brought his wii and a game got stuck in his drive and it won't come out. Good luck.
