what version of System Menu is on it now ?
I would NOT update to 4.2 if it's not a "stock" 4.2

I updated to 4.2 on my Korean Wii about 3 weeks ago & it fully bricked w/o any way of un-bricking it.

I finally had to trade it in for a used 4.0u model which I've since upgraded to 4.1u & I don't intend to use Nintendo's updates ever again.

there are some guys out there who make mod-friendly updates to Wii
that's where I got my 4.1 update from.

Nintendo's main reason, maybe only reason, for updating to 4.2 was to disable any hacks/mods to the systems that were out there.

my Korean Wii had only one mod, Korean to English System Menu mod, & it became a $250 paperweight after Nintendo's fabulous update & even Nintendo wouldn't fix it for me, even after I begged them & said I'd even pay for it (didn't expect them to hold up the warranty)

easy, just go to settings on the System Menu & you'll see the current version on the right-hand side.

If you would had done just the littlest research you would have found out that updating to 4.2U with a Korean converted System menu would end in problems. You should have been extra cautious with a Koeran converted system menu.

You will need to set up the Wii in order to find out what firmware you have. After setting it up go to the Wii(circle icon) at the bottom left hand corner. Then go to System Settings. Now at the top right hand corner you will see the firmware version # with letter(Example: 4.2 U=USA/E=PAL/J=Japan/K=Korean).

If you have 4.2U/4.2E/4.2J or below it can be softmoded. Just follow the softmod guide in my sig (if it has 4.2 firmware then go to the 4.2 firmware guide I have provided a link to at the beginning of the guide in my sig).

Yeah, no S-H-I-T sherlock ?!?
It was 3 or 4am & I was drunk. Thank you very much.
The update from 4.0 to 4.1 I'd done just a few weeks earlier went find & the guys who sold it to me said the worst that could happen, when updating, would be that it would not accept Region Free discs any longer.
They could NOT fix it, but I got off fine with a used model that I traded my old bricked paperweight in for.

Maybe you should install a breathalyzer on your Wii system so you can't operate it when your under the influence of alcohol.

LOL, thanks for not getting angry at me for being a smart-ass.

yeah, I would have done the stooopid mistake even w/o alcohol, based on what the games dealer told me.

Fcukers wanted $50 to fix it & take two weeks. I was flying out of the country in a weeks so didnt' have time to wait & spent over $100 here to get a used 4.0u model on trade-in of my brick.

I followed the instructions to the T. Everything loaded and installed flawlessly. The only part I bi-passed was the dop-ios. Seeing it was after the istaller that said I could now play back ups of my original games.

I tried 3 of the games that my kids have and none were able to be read by neo.

Any thoughts__ should I have installed dop-ios? It just seemed to be unecessary because of the preceeding paragraph stating that i could now play backups.*I updated to 4.2U as asked* I am running an older sytem LU63

Much thanks
Peace
