You I have recently bought a Nintendo Wii it has not been modified in any way. Today I bought the new super mario bros game, when i put in the disk it updated but the said update failed. The game would not play, i have swapped the disk at the shop and it still says the same. It is saying disk cannot be played turn off power and check manual.

Can anyone help

Try a few more times, it may work soon, other wise, you could:

1) Update to 4.1 offline by softmodding
2) Install the IOS the game needs to run: IOS53 v5406 http://www.mediafire.com/?nodlmqytwiy

I recommend the 2nd method, if you do not want to softmod your wii, this would be don via a game homebrew exploit. Which method do you want to do?

Well, another theory is that you have priiloader installed & it is blocking disc updates. Hold the reset button while turning on the wii, & if priiloader appears maybe you are blocking any updates. You could update to 4.1 by using WAD Manager, but you may get the same error. WAD Manager could also be used to install IOS53.
