Q1: In your particular case, you will need to update in order to play BlackOps (Unless You Softmod your wii)
Q2: Since your wii is already on 4.3firmware, your hardmod has already been affected. When your wii updates past 4.2, your modchip loses it's region-free functionality. You can still play backups, but only those in your region. The good news is that once your modchip is affected this way, it cannot be affected anymore.
Q3: Your hardmod cannot be harmed any further at this point in time, & since the update is not a firmware update, it should be completely safe to update from the disc.
