It's been a while since I soft modded my wii. finally located the sd card that had the mod loaded and was able to start the homebrew channel but unfortunately the hdd that had my game backups failed. I'm thinking of using a new hdd. Can I use those small laptop usb drives that's powered by usb? I also have a few enclosures and few old hdd's laying around. can use those also but don't like to mess with turning on and off the power all the time.
secondly, can I update the homebrew channel and the usb loader program. mine's pretty old. atleast 2+ years. in the past 2 years, I haven't updated my wii either. Just trying to get myself updated here. Any updated howto document available?
yes you can use 2.5 and 3.5 drives, i use 3.5s coz there bigger and have own power, and yes update everything on the wii via mod mii google will help its dead easy, and update homebrew and usb laoder

so I have firmware 4.1U
I have homebrew channel installed, on that I have cIOS 222 installer v4 version 3.0
cIOS38r14 installer version: rev14, Homebrew browser 0.3.6, PriLoader, USB Loader GX version: 1.0.r807
do I need to update the firmware? ModMii says 4.1 is recommended. what other apps do/should I update?
