I am fairly new to Wii (but very knowledge to MCBOOT on PS2 USB)
I keep on seeing this:
Make sure to turn off Internet Connection on your Wii.

What happens if you are running backups on a HDD through your Wii on a connection?

And will any external USB Drive support it? unlike PS2 with its complications on versions and size. Right now i have a WD 500 My Book
These may sound like a dumb questions, but again, I am new to the Wii USB shabang.

You can be online with a softmod.

You can find a USB Device compatibility list in the CFG USB Loader guide in my sig.

You need to softmod your system first. If you want to softmod then use 1 of the softmod guides in my sig.
