Just install the VC/Wiiware wad file using wad manager. It is that simple (make sure the VC/Wiiware game is the same region as your system or is region free).
If you want to transfer it to a SD Card then make sure your on 4.0 or 4.1 firmware and go to data management/channels in settings and MOVE (DO NOT COPY) the game to the SD card. After that you can load the VC/Wiiware game from the SD Card icon.

ok loaded wad manager from the homebrew channel pressed ok and its asking me to choose an IOS file, no .wad files there i think im running on pillock mode as it looks simple but im not getting it. if i look at the files on the sd card through management channels it freezes wii. no idea why im not getting this just think im trying to make it more complicated than it is. i would appreciate an idiots guide lol. Many WiiWare titles will require IOS 53 and 55 to be installed. so the other site says do i choose one of those ios files then the option for the .wad game channel comes up? im on the 4.1 firmware with the dop-ios all from your guides, funny thing is that was probably harder to do than this lol.
wad manager 1.4 by wannako

WAD Manager should set the default IOS to IOS249 when running it. You can install using VC/Wiiware titles using IOS249. So there is really no reason to change the IOS to another.

Patch IOS70
You can do this by going to the 4.2 softmod guide in my sig.
Use DOP-IOS to patch IOS70 (read the DOP-IOS section on how to do this).
Also if you move the VC/WiiWare games to a SD Card make sure you choosing MOVE and not COPY.

I tried that and it still comes up with. "This channel can't be used". Is there something I have to do before I install them?

I select IOS version IOS249
disable NAND emulator device
Wii SD slot as the source (obviously).
Then I'll install the WAD file, everything seems to work as normal. Says install is comlete, bla bla bla.
But when I launch it thats when it says it can't be used.

It doesn't give me an option to install anything new. just to install old v6174 of IOS60. If it helps, I modded it using your Guide. (which is legendary by the way)

Are you sure the VC game is the same region as your System? They are region coded. Even if the WAD is region free sometimes the WAD may not work.

That's what I was thinking I don't know how to tell what region my Wii is. I brought in New Zealand which is where I'm from and the wads are U.S.A.

Go to your Wii settings and look at the top right corner. There will be the firmware version number with letter.
Yours is probably an E if your in New Zealand.
U = North America
E = Europe
J = Japan
K = Korean
If it is E then the USA VC/WIIWARE WAD files will not work. You need to get PAL VC/WIIWARE WAD files.

Aaaah that'll be it. Thankyou Larry you're the man. I appreciate all your help, with this and for providing the guide to mod it in the first place. Have a good New Year, no doubt I'll be asking for more advice in the future. :)

i was trying to play TETRIS wiiware game on my softmod 4.0, unfortunately when i was on the game's wi-fi connection option, it won't let me go further, is that because the wiiware wasn't originally downloaded from Nintendo to the console?

You should be able to go online fine with VC/WiiWare games. I do it with Dr. mario.

thanks for the advice about the Ios 70 because i was not available to play wad games from the sd card only from the wii but now it's more better from the sd to free up space on wii memory's and one more question i have like 5.7 Gb on wad games ( I download trought Utorrent) so the wii can suppor a sd of 8Gb and 16 Gb ?
Sorry for my bad English
Good work to everyone on this Webside
