hi everyone
i have wii with wikkey 1.99b and firmwire version 3.2
my problem is that when i try to start a new wii game the game asks for update
i also tried ejecting the update file from the game and than the game dosent asks for update but when i press start it goes black and the wii stucks.

so is it safe to run update to 4.3 even though i have wiikey installed on it?
and why does it get freez when i try to launch the game?

It is safe to update if you have the wiikey and no software mods to the console and do not play import games. Updating to 4.3 will remove the homebrew channel and any custom firmware patches you've installed. Also, it will block playing any games that are not from your wii's home region.

If you do use homebrew then you can just reinstall it after the update, and if you have import games you can restore the ability to play them through homebrew as well.

And the game crashes when trying to launch it because you're running a very old firmware.

i dont have any software except the 1.99 version of wiikey , so will it to any harm to update?
and is there any other way to play the games without updating?

Without updating at all? I dont think so.

Without updating to 4.3? Sure, you'd just have to update to 4.1 or 4.2 from a game disk (mario galaxy 2 contains 4.2). That should make nearly all games work. For any games that still won't run you'll need to softmod, then look up what IOS patches the games require and install them with the wad manager homebrew app.

I'm gonna point out again though that updating to 4.3 wont damage your modchip. You'll still be able to play game backups so long as they match your wii's region.

I have WiiKey 1 and just got everything running. It plays games as recent as "Other M" (August 2010)
