Good Evening Everyone
I have just installed a Wiikey fusion into a 3.1E european wii with a D2b dvd drive.

When I put in an sd card it picks this up and the iso images on it, when i put in a backed up DVD wii game it simply spins and then doesn't recognise the disk. It will load genuine games when the card is not in the SD reader just not a backup.

I know these chips are relatively new but any ideas anyone ?

I just ordered a Fusion to replace a DriveKey that was getting old. When it gets here I will try it and let you know if I have the same issue. One thing I know from when my Drivekey was working was that the DVD laser needed to be very powerful to read burned DVD's. I had to replace the DVD unit in my Wii to get it to work. The DVD drive that came with it simply could not read the burned disks. Added the new one and didnt have any problems. Well at least for a few months. Now nothing plays including originals. That is why I am upgrading the Wiikey to a newer model in case an update that Wii pushed out is screwing it up.

One question I have - since most games are 4.4 GB (or about that size) will I need 8GB SD cards to put a game on? Not sure how you convert a game to an SD readable format. Can you tell me how you did that? I am going to search the forums but figured I would ask you too since you have done it.

Thanks

Well when Wii games are uploaded online, they are what they call "scrubbed" versions. Basically it has the game data, and then a bunch of garbage data to fill the rest of the 4.7GB Disc. Some games have come to only 500MB once Scrubbed.

Thanks. I am sort of weird this way since I wont download games. I buy all my games but don't want to use the original DVD's because I have kids and they ruin the DVD's about the third time they play them. I use a WiiKey now so I can play backup copies but it stopped working even for originals. I know, not wanting to use a pirated copy makes me lame but I just don't believe in piracy. By the same token I also don't believe in buying a game for $49.00 that I can't make a backup of and play it (thus the chip) :-)

Guess I will look for a scrubber program when my chip comes so I can remove the fluff myself and get the game to fit on a 2GB SD card. Does anyone know if an 8GB SD card will actually work in the system so I dont have to do this? Seems odd the Wiikey developers would only create a chip that can be used with pirated games.

Cheers,

./tall
