So, I just bought a legit copy of SMG2.
My wii is modded with a wiikey, but I havent used it since smash bros brawl came out. I believe it has 1.9g (sound right?) and I have no clue what firmware the wii itself has. I cant get into the wii settings (comes up as an opera error(?)) to find out. I do know that it does NOT have the SD card icon, so it's very old.
What can I do to get this game up and running? Is it good to run as is? I dont care if it disables the mod, as long as it doesnt brick the wii.

Dude, your already bricked. Your in what's called a semi-brick.

Semi-Brick: A semi-bricked Wii has a small error in the System Menu. Once a Wii is semi-bricked, it cannot enter the settings screen.

I would suggest you fix this before you try to run MG2. If you are unable to run MG2, it may help to have the settings available. If you cannot see a sd card icon next to the settings button, you're below 4.0

I suggest updating to 3.4. What region is your wii? I can give you the files so you can unbrick then install IOS56-64-v5405, which will allow you to play the game, but keep you on 3.4, rather than the troublesome 4.2

Make sure there's no sd card menu icon on your wii menu, like this one here:

Alternatively, you could just update off your MG2 disc from the disc channel. This isn't a very desirable option, it will mess up your modchip & delete your softmods. If you console is region-changed it will also brick your wii. Only do this if your absolutely sure, unbricking then install the IOS WAD would be the easiest way to go if you do not want to lose your softmods.
