Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Wii scene and just recvd my Wiikey. I've been reading around and I have no trouble with the istallation process (ohysical soldering) but I do have 1 question. Everywhere I read, sticky's and tutorials mentioned to upgrade to 3.0 or 3.1 but my Wii has 4.1. I also read not to update to 4.2. Is it still possible to install the chip at 4.1?... Just installing to have backups as my kids keep scrathing discs...

You've been reading old guides.

Fortunately for you, firmware level has no effect on modchips. So long as you're only playing backups from your wii's own region then you dont have to worry about it.
