Ok, I'm trying to make sense of all the new things that happened with the wii, last time I used it, wiikey 2 didn't exist and firmware 3.4 was the latest.

So I got the NSMB retail disc and i let it update, it did two updates, to 4.1. I have wiikey 1, with 1.9s.

After that my old backups still worked, and other reigon backups worked too.

So I tried the old way to dump the NSMB disc to SD but it gave an error unknown disc type. So I used friidump and made then burned an ISO. When I tried the burned copy in the wii, the first time the drive made some noises, then error-eject disc. Second time it didn't read at all. Third time it loaded just fine and the game was playable.

I don't use homebrew, I rip my own games. Everything is the same region except mario kart which I couldn't wait for the NA release to pick up my copy when the euro was out.
So my question is, what exactly will happen if I update the wii to 4.2?
