Wiikey V 1, issues with NSMB

I've looked at tried various methods and was hoping to get some guidance on how to make NSMB to work without softmodding.

As I have as stated on the subject line:

+ Wiikey V1, NTSC
+ Updated the Wii to the newest firmware via the config channel.
+ Wii was bought the first day it was released.
--------------------------------------------------------------

My original works fine but my backup plays fine for about 5 mins then gets an error screen. All my other originals and backups work flawlessly. Is there going to be a fix for this similar to Wiikey V2?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is a patch for NSMB floating around online. You replace a file in the disk iso with a hacked version using wiiscrubber and, for most people that fixed the issue with random crashes. If you look around you can also find pre-patched disks as well.

The problem is that some people, especially people like you and me with original wiikeys, get a different error that freezes up the whole console when you insert the patched disk. If you get that error with the patched disk then your ONLY solution is to install some homebrew.

I would not count on the wiikey team providing another patch at this point. It may still happen, but the more time goes by the less likely it becomes.
