I share all my music across my network at home. I am trying to make all my files that I share read only. I'm not sure how to do this. The way I have it set up I share the files with the "everyone" group. When I go to advanced sharing and check the read box under permissions for the everyone group it still won't work. I am still able to change file names from other computers. How can I fix this?

Highlight the files you want to make read only to other users and computers, right click on them and go to the security tab. You should have "everyone" in the top section of groups and user names, if it's not there click add, or edit and type "everyone", it should become underlined and you can then add it to that secton.
Once it's there highlight it by left clicking it once and then in the permissions section underneath only tick "read", "read and execute" and "list folder contents", this part may be slightly different depending on what version of windows you are using but you want to configure the settings so "everyone" can see the files and folders contents, can read and execute the files but can write to or modify them.

If you don't have a security tab when you right click on the files/folders you want to do this to and you are on xp, go to folder options from any explorer window, then in the view section scroll to the bottom and untick "use simple file sharing".

Edit: Sorry just saw that you said it was w7, top paragraph should work, if you have trouble you can also try doing the same as above but in the "advance sharing" section of the "sharing" tab once you have highlighted and right clicked the files/folders in question.
