Ok, figured I would try my luck here since I am at a loss. PC seems to shutdown for no apparent reason. No BSOD or anything....it acts as though the power is directly cut from it. Following are my specs..
MOBO: ECS Geforce 6100pm v3
CPU: AMD Phenom X3 2.1ghz
GPU: EvgaGeforce 8400GS 512mb PCIex16
RAM: 2gig (1xeach)Kingston
Rig: Front, side, and back fans, fan on heatsink for cpu.
PSU: 650watt
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (all drivers and files up-to-date)
The only thing I have done to the pc since this started happening yesterday, was I bought a new LCD monitor, and ran it thru the dvi port on the GPU. I had an old CRT one running thru the vga before. All temps are within tollerance as far as cpu and mainboard go, but I have noticed that my gpu runs at idle around 64*C, and at load runs to about 82*C. Now I dont monitor it 100% while playing games, but also, the event viewer shows nothing to indicate why the pc shuts off either. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thats too high for your 3core cpu. I have a phenom quad 9750 and it idles at 32c and maxes out at 45c at full throttle.
But I also had problems before with heating problems on my phenom and a cheap cpu fan, it was maxing out at almost 70c. It occasionally BSOD. Your cpu is a newer generation and should run cooler than my phenom quad.
The only other thing that can shutdown your computer instantly is a virus that wants to gain access to certain parts of the computer. Some antivirus/antispyware will shutdown the computer with no warning instantly. It's happen to me before.
