i know some people dont like auto updates to start with, but i had the xp security 2010-2011 virus-malware got rid of it easy enough with malwarebytes, but it turned off auto updates and they wont turn back on through normal methods, ie security center and such. ideas anyone.

try a services edit. if neccessary you may have to do it in safe mode. idk.

computer (*right-click*-manage), services and applications -> services -> 'Security Center' (should be set to automatic.
Google 'Black Viper' for more services settings.
hope it helps you.

lubricant -> Mr Slicker -> ???

look at the information for a "repair installation", that will replace all critical windows files and will leave your user info, installed programs etc. you need a windows disc and probably will have to reactivate. you can have a friend do it if you're not sure
