While the Redmond-based software giant does offer the "validated" Genuine Windows OS user their Microsoft Security Essentials on gratis [as a reward?] ? We have a problem, Houston!

The program components are notorious for crashing systems. Why or how? Because Microsoft Security Essentials "drops" HIDDEN drivers onto the operating system. Nonetheless, the kicker is not that these HIDDEN drivers are secretly installed, but is because these HIDDEN drivers are installed with each UPDATE and the antediluvian HIDDEN drivers are not removed automatically via the Microsoft Security Essentials update process. One has to disable or uninstall the obsolete ?problematic? drivers, manually. The files can be found by opening DeviceManager and choosing the option ?Show hidden devices?. Look inside ?Non Plug and Play Drivers?. If you spot problematic drivers beginning with the letters MPK, either disable or uninstall them. These are the trashy files that are left behind, and the subject of the BSOD.

Best yet, find and make use of a trusted ?anti-annoying, anti-expensive, anti-virus program? to safegard your precious system.
