Hi,

I have a very stubborn virus/malware problem. I have performed full scans with the following programs in normal and safe mode to no avail: AVG Free 9.0; Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware; SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition; Spybot - Search & Destroy; SmitfraudFix.exe; SDFix.exe; ComboFix.exe and also used CCleaner & TFC cleaner.

When I open a browser page another will also open and go to a different site.
Ad-Aware also sometimes blockes the file name svchost.exe from connecting to malicious web sites IP address 67.29.139.199 (port: 80) & 66.230.188.67 (port: 80).

When I open my task manager there are roughly 8 files with the name of svchost.exe running at the same time. I know this file is usually a nessesary file but the amout of them running seems strange to me.
Below is my HiJackThis log, please can someone help?
Thanks Terry9999

Hi terry9999,

Looking over your HJT log, you have 3 lines that are just trash (not harmful) and can be removed.

O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: avgrsstarter - avgrsstx.dll (file missing)

The following line:

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.113,85.255.112.175

Section (017) corresponds to Lop.com Domain Hacks.

When you go to a web site using a hostname, like www.bleepingcomputer.com, instead of an IP address, your computer uses a DNS server to resolve the hostname into an IP address like 192.168.1.0. Domain hacks are when the Hijacker changes the DNS servers on your machine to point to their own server, where they can direct you to any site they want. By adding google.com to their DNS server, they can make it so that when you go to www.google.com, they redirect you to a site of their choice.

If you see entries for this and do not recognize the domain as belonging to your ISP or company, and the DNS servers do not belong to your ISP or company, then you should have HijackThis fix it. You can go to Arin to do a whois on the DNS server IP addresses to determine what company they belong to. This one is:

Quote:
85.255.112.113, 85.255.112.175
org-name: Promnet Ltd.
address: Ekaterinenskaja str., 41, 65000, Odessa, Ukraine

If this is NOT your ISP then it needs to be removed..

And this line:

O23 - Service: MIRAUOCZ - Sysinternals - www.sysinternals.com - C:\DOCUME~1\Terry\LOCALS~1\Temp\MIRAUOCZ.exe

This is an unknown Service loading from a Temp folder which was probably slipped in on you and if you don?t recognize it, it needs to be removed.

Do the following:

Step # 1: Remove Hijackthis Entries
? Run HijackThis
? Click on the Scan]/b] button
Put a [b]check
beside all of the items listed below (if present):

O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe (file missing)

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.113,85.255.112.175

O20 - Winlogon Notify: avgrsstarter - avgrsstx.dll (file missing)

O23 - Service: MIRAUOCZ - Sysinternals - www.sysinternals.com - C:\DOCUME~1\Terry\LOCALS~1\Temp\MIRAUOCZ.exe

? Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
? Click on the "Fix Checked" button
? When completed, close the application.

Step # 2: Delete Bad Services

Please open Notepad. Ensure that word wrap is turned off. Click on Format and make sure that there is not a tick next to Word Wrap. If there's one, click on Word Wrap to remove it. Copy and paste the following in the quote box into Notepad:
Quote:

@echo off
sc stop MIRAUOCZ
sc delete MIRAUOCZ
exit

Click on File > Save As....

In the File Name box, copy and paste in fix.bat
In the Save as type box, select All Files from the drop-down list.

Click Save and save it to your Desktop.

Double click on fix.bat. A Command Prompt window will open and close quickly. That is normal.

Let me know if this helps and how you are doing...

Hi thanks for your reply.
I did as you suggested and my browser as yet hasn't redirected or opened in multiple. Ad-aware is still blocking the file svchost.exe from connecting to a malicious website 205.252.166.169 (port: 80). Have you any idea what I should try next?

Thanks

Location of the IP address
205.252.166.169:
Herndon in United States.

Well, if Ad-aware is blocking it, it's probably not doing much harm.... just an irritation lol

You said you have ran SuperAntiSpyware, Try it again and be sure you have the latest updates.

Let me know and post the SAS Log in your reply.
