When I print off a web page it only prints the outside text and not the main body. When I copy and paste into Microsoft Word and print the page comes out blank. I have un-installed and re-installed the software to no avail. Please help. Thank you.

"When I print off a web page it only prints the outside text and not the main body."

Are you printing in portrait mode?

If you do a "print preview" instead of a print does it print what is listed on the preview?

Many web pages will not print completely in portrait mode.

switch to landscape mode

"When I copy and paste into Microsoft Word and print the page comes out blank."

Copy and paste what? A web page? Web pages are in HTML format, and you can't simply "cut and paste" into a Word document.

What is it that you are attempting to accomplish?

If you are trying to print an entire webpage your would be better saving the webpage as an .html file and then opening it in Microsoft Word.

Word should resize the webpage to fit onto the printed Page.

Good morning. Thank you for your reply to the post. I am not too hot with printers. I only acquired one in February. A friend received an email from a college and needed the main body of the text printed. I copied it from the web page to a Microsoft word document and the page came out blank when I printed it. I have done this previously with an airline booking and it worked fine. After reading your post, I printed a M/Word document I had saved previously and it printed no problem. Could you please explain what I am doing wrong and why it won?t print the friend?s much needed document? Tanx again for the reply?(?,)**

I am still missing information to help resolve your issue.

If you are trying to print an e-mail from webmail, such as hotmail or yahoo, using the native print function from within the webmail program is the best way to print. You may need to adjust the page orientation as I had described above.

As far as "cut and paste" into word, does the text show up in the Microsoft Word document? Does it display in the "print preview" window of Microsoft word? If it displays there, you should be able to print it.

This is what I KNOW works for printing a webpage.

Using Internet Explorer

1. Open the webpage
2. File --> Save As
3. Save the file as Web archive, single file
4. Open Microsoft Word
5. Open the file that you saved
6. A new document will open which should display the entire webpage
7. File -->Print preview, the document should display as it will be rinted
8. File --> print if the display is satisfactory.

Lastly, and possible but improbable, are you sure that it's text that you are cutting and pasting? If it's test being displayed as an image you will not be able to cut and past it into Microsoft Word as text.

Hello. Tanx again for the reply. The text, when copied from the web page-it's only the centre body text with the college information, it pasted to M/word. I save the file, print preview, it's there and, print. Nothing appears on the page. Tried an old M/word document and it printed fine. Eye'm stumped.....(",)**

I use Firefox most of the time. However, I opened the mail in Internet explorer and did as you suggested but when I opened it in Word, I was brought to the Mail log in page. Tried it twice but same result...(",)**

I opened my own account at mail.com and followed my own directions (with one small modification) and was able to print the entire webpage with no problem.

Open the webpage
2. File --> Save As
3. Save the file as single file web page
4. Open Microsoft Word
5. Open the file that you saved
6. A new document will open which should display the entire webpage
7. File -->Print preview, the document should display as it will be rinted
8. File --> print if the display is satisfactory.

I was also able to copy selected text and paste into Microoft Word and print with no problem.

I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions at this point. It should work.

I have tested on IE 6 and 8 and Microsoft Word 2000, 2003, and 2007.

Good luck!
