Hello, I have a problem. I accidentally erased my Windows Vista Basic Home. I was cleaning out my computer one day and instead of getting into the main hard drive I went into the separate hard drive containing the Windows Vista Home basic recovery partition. I called Hp/Compaq and they said to get the recovery CD it would cost about 35.00 plus shipping.I explained to them that i had the product key and information on the bottom of my laptop but they didn't care. I'm a disabled Police Officer trying to make ends meet on my wifes paychecks. I can't afford the 35.00 as pathetic as that may sound. If anyone can help or has any clues on how to fix this problem i would GREATLY APPRECIATE IT... Thanks in advance and for your time. Brad In KY...

Just download the recovery image and burn it to a disc:

If you just deleted the "recovery partition" it's not a big deal as long as your computer still boots up.

You can use free software "macrium reflect" to make your own "recovery backup file". This will work better than the original "recovery partition" since it will be more current.
