currently have vista 32 bit, i just got windows vista ultimate 64 bit cd i plan to dual boot these
ok so here is how my partitions are set up
c: -> vista 32 bit (250GB)
d: -> files (pics videos etc) (250GB)
e: -> random crap (IDE 80GB)
f: -> Program files (350GB)
g: -> empty (planned for win 7) (175GB)
h: -> empty (the one i want to use for my 64 bit (175GB)
EDIT:
ok, so ive already tried installing the 64 bit into partition H
here is what happens:
It goes through step 1 (copying files), restarts
then goes thru 3 more (expand, install, install) restarts again
Upon this restart (in the boot menu) when i select the 64 bit to startup this comes up
"Windows Error Recovery"
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause."
Then gives me the option for safe mode, etc. and start windows normally
When i start windows normally, it will show the windows loading bar, but the restarts.
I believe this might be the part where the 64 bit drivers come in
so whats wrong? what can i do?
EDIT: do i need to install the 64 bit drivers first? will this interfere with my 32 bit drivers?
Most of my dual boots are on separate drives but I think that if the install got to the reboot part you should pick the vista 64 not the setup. Good luck

i have a few questions? Is your 32bit version also ultimate. Also can you post the error message so i can research it. It should not matter about the drivers. Is your copy of vista ultimate a full or upgrade version because if it is an upgrade version and you are tring to do a clean install you will get an error message, but there is a work around for this. You install vista without using your serial number then after it is installed u update vista and use your serial number.
