hi . Im running windows 7 premium , love it! however i do have a gripe and was wondering whether or not other readers had any opinions on this issue perhaps experiencing similar problems, windows 7 doesnt come with email by default so i did as instructed and installed windows live mail , no outlook express as in xp, i then bought norton 2010 , and also microsoft 2010 office, tried sending an email from word 2010 couldnt ,Although i found i had mysteriously aquired a trial version of outlook 2010 on my pc , apparently installed by the ms 2010 office disc , But I was not happy when i found out to buy outlook express full version would be over a £100 quid,(its sold as a sep program) so i downloaded thundebird email to get around this problem, which worked just fine , not being prepared to be ripped any further! next problem was norton 2010 it doesnt scan email in or out UNLESS yes youve guess it !! that you have outlook express installed on your pc , a feature we once got free with windows xp , windows 98 etc we are now expected to pay for!i was further incensed when nortons help rep on norton chat told me norton only works with outlook express regarding email? he couldnt see why i was so angry that my pc , correct me if im wrong might become infected via email , obvious i thought if emails in or out are not being monitored! its scandelous! true norton might detect it after the event but by then its too late! what are afterdawns readers views on this? an anti virus suite should scann most email clients ie thunderbird and wouldnt you expect it to scan a windows product ie windows live? seems like the idea is to force users on to outlook expresss 2010 version , and i dont think im wrong any solutions apart from ditch norton

personally i think norton is over expensive and over rated.I'd take norton back to the shop (assuming you brought it recently) and explain the problem.maybe get a different program or refund.

You are using the epitome of awful softwares; therein lies your problem.

Uninstall the lot and replace with:

- OpenOffice
- Mozilla Thunderbird (presuming you haven't stuck with it)
- AVG Free (good enough for a basic user and you can customise your Email Scanner to scan the Hotmail pop3 if it doesn't automatically).
